Last Tuesday we had a talk about how to make a video journal by this women called Jackie who is a producer. she gave lots of good tips on how to make a god video journal for example we need to have an narrative arc which is when you have a beginning-middle-end.
To make a video journal Jackie told us that we need:
- A digital camera or digital video camera.
- An idea.
- Creativity.
- A format.
- Good planning.
We were also told that an interview should be:
- Challenging
- Revealing
- Evocative
- Provocative
- Emotional
- Engaging
The information she told us was very useful because it gave us ideas on what to do if we wanted to make a video journal for our blogs instead of just writing all the time. I think I will use the information she gave us when I make video journals in lessons or for my blog i have taken all the things she said into account and I will put them int good use when I need to make video journals.
Today in our artifact lesson we were planning and designing our shoe we are going to make. Me, Hollie and Ellie are going to design high-tops which have a high heel so we have merge together three different shoes - converse, high-tops and high heels because we thought it would be a good idea and it would stand out from other shoes. We have to link the shoe in with hemstocks jewellers so we are going to put lots of jewels/gems onto the shoe to represent the fact it is a jewellers. We are designing the shoe to advertise hemstocks jewellers. We are going to cover the heel in little gems/jewels and we are going to have the actual shoe all black so the colours we add on top will stand out more, we will also have lace which we will make out of beads or necklaces.
Last Tuesday we went to open and listened to five different talks by different groups of people from that industry. There was Music, Dance, Performance, Graphic design, and Animation. The music talk was ok and gave us a lot of information, they showed you a few clips of music what they had made, I enjoyed it but some of the speech was a bit boring because it wasn't what I wanted to do when I leave school and the information didn't mean much to me. Then it was the dance talk I found that quite interesting and like the video they showed us, the information was good but I didn't need any information because I wasn't interested in doing dance. The third talk was performance which I really enjoyed because they made it funny as well as giving us a lot of information, I also liked it because it gave me lots of useful information that I needed to know. The fourth talk was about graphic design which I enjoyed at the beginning but then I got bored because I didn't really know what they were on about and I didn't want to do graphic designing later on in life anyway. The last talk was Animation which I thought was quite a good talk because they gave us a lot of information and some useful tips in whatever we want to do later on in life. Overall the best speech has to be the performance because it was entertaining and gave me all the information I needed to know and that is want I want to do in the future.
After Me, Hollie and Ellie went to the jewellers we went down to the Red Cross Charity Shop. When we got into the shop we talked to the man who worked there and looked after the shop. We then went into the office upstairs and he gave us lots of leaflets, posters and information. We then filmed the interview with him where i asked him:
- what kind of donations they get given? He said: That they get given all kinds of donations and from all different people.
- What sort of people buy and work in the shop? He said: That people of all ages work in the shop/buy from the shop and they even get people doing work experience in the shop.
- how much of the donations can they sell? He said: They can sell about 25% of donations that they get given and the rest has to be recycled.
- What kind of donations do you want more of for example clothes toys? He said: They could do with lots of different donations as long as they are in good condition.
and some other questions. Also i told him how we were going to campaign, what we were going to campaign about and that we are going to bring the donations that we get at the school into the charity shop. He told us that the red cross charity wasn't advertised much and people don't know much about them but they do a lot more than other people think.
Today we went into Wymondham town and first me, Hollie and Ellie went into Hemstock`s jeweller`s with another group and we filmed an interview we had with the two ladies who work behind the counter.
Here are some of the questions we asked them:
- What type of things do you sell? She said: We sell watches, rings, necklaces basically all jewellery and gifts.
- What people buy from your shop? She said: We get all sorts of different people buying from the shop and we try to provide a wide rang of jewellery and gifts for everyone.
- Where abouts there are other Hemstocks jewellers? She said: We are one of the only hemstock`s jewellers near here part from there is one in Norwich but it is called Bradley Hatch jewellers.
and other questions like that. One thing we Forgot to say about the Artifact unit was about the shoe we will be designing to go in the shop. But the interview with the workers in the shop went quite quickly.
So far in the campaign unit i have found the work doable and not to hard. I think i am doing well in the campaign unit and have done all the work set so far. I have found the unit okay but i prefer the work we are doing in the artifact unit.
So far in the artifact unit i think i have worked well and i haven't found it to hard. I think i am working at the right level and i have completed all work been set so far. I am enjoying the artifact unit so far especially the design part of it.
